Can Recycling
While we only pay for aluminium cans, we are happy to accept steel food cans for recycling.
Examples of Aluminium cans:
-
Soft drink cans
-
Beer cans
-
Energy drink cans
-
Sparkling water cans
-
Juice cans (aluminium only)
-
Canned fish tins (e.g., tuna, salmon – if aluminium)
-
Aluminium coffee cans or lids
⚠️ Please note: If unsure, use a magnet – aluminium is non-magnetic.
Many food and beverage products are packaged in cans made from either aluminium or steel, and both materials are 100% recyclable. These metals can be reprocessed into new cans or other products, significantly reducing environmental impact.
Though commonly referred to as “tin cans,” most food cans are actually made of steel with a thin tin coating to protect against corrosion and preserve flavor. Steel can be recycled endlessly without losing quality, helping to conserve fossil fuels and reduce harmful emissions.
Aluminium, on the other hand, requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce it from raw materials when recycled. It can also be recycled repeatedly without losing its properties – making aluminium recycling one of the most impactful ways to protect the environment.
From cooldrink cans to soup, vegetable, and coffee cans, all cans can – and should – be recycled. Let’s work together to keep these valuable materials in use and out of landfills.
